BANGOR – The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announced it will end the popular nostalgia and music radio show “Down Memory Lane” at the end of November.

Hosted and created by Toby Leboutillier, the show began in 1979, as a fill program for late Friday afternoons. Leboutillier retired from MPBN after 35 years in 2003, and had been producing and hosting “Down Memory Lane” on a volunteer basis.

In a press release Friday, MPBN officials said ending the show is one of several schedule changes being made in response to audience input. “The Diane Rehm Show” will now run an additional day, through Friday, followed by “The World with Lisa Mullins” between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“Toby is one of Maine’s radio pioneers and has contributed mightily to the success of MPBN, first as an employee and later as a volunteer,” wrote Charles Beck, MPBN’s director of television and radio, in the press release. “Toby will always be considered a member of the MPBN family.”
