Map: Opioid prescription rates across New England

While most areas of Maine are seeing declining rates of opioid prescriptions, rates are increasing in Kennebec County, which now ranks as New England’s highest-prescribing county.

While the amount of prescribed opioids generally declined across Maine and much of New England between 2010 and 2015, central Maine’s Kennebec County bucked that trend, to the point where it now exceeds any other county in New England in its volume of prescribed opioids per resident.
