The Attorney General’s office reported 60 officer-involved shootings in Maine from Jan. 1, 2012 to November 24, 2019, resulting in 30 deaths..

The deaths in three cases were determined to be suicide. Nineteen shootings resulted in injury.

The AG’s office is responsible for investigating all circumstances in which a law enforcement officer uses deadly force while acting in the performance of the officer’s duties. The investigations determine whether the officer acted in self-defense or in the defense of others.
