Despite sunny skies and a temperature of 59 degrees, the Portland Sea Dogs postponed their second game in a row against the Reading Fightin Phils on Saturday afternoon.

Unlike Friday’s rain, the cause of Saturday’s postponement was unplayable field conditions. The infield simply was too soft and moist from two days of rain when umpires and both managers inspected it shortly after 5 p.m. Originally slated to begin at 1, the start was pushed back four hours in hopes of allowing the grounds crew to dry up the infield.

Friday’s game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on May 26 starting at 1 p.m. Saturday’s game will be part of a doubleheader June 19 starting at 5 p.m.

Tickets for either postponed game may be exchanged for any available date the rest of the season.

The Sea Dogs and Reading are scheduled to play Sunday at 1 p.m.
