WATERVILLE — The on-ramp from upper Main Street in Waterville to Interstate 95 northbound is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday so a crew can remove a lighting pole.

“For the time being, out of an abundance of caution, we’re going to take (the pole) down,” said Paul Merrill, spokesman for the Maine Department of Transportation.

A routine inspection showed the base of the pole needs repairs, according to Merrill.

The closure is not anticipated to last the entire two hours.

“It’s just a ramp, not the interstate, so hopefully there will be minimal disruption,” Merrill said. “This is why we do inspections. If there’s a problem, we take it down.”
