Maine author and nonviolence skills instructor Rivera Sun will give a talk at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Norway Memorial Library.
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, this kid-friendly, intergenerational workshop will show the power of stories and share skills for peaceful conflict resolution. Attendees will play games, learn the basic principles and skills of nonviolence, and discuss how nonviolence shows us a way forward.
Sun will also speak about her award-winning Ari Ara series and how writers can create relevant stories for our time that uplift nonviolence and peace.
Dr. King brought nonviolence to the attention of the United States as a force for change. Anchored in the vision of Beloved Community, he used nonviolence to build equality and justice for all, not just some. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, January 15.
