AUGUSTA — Nearly 13 years ago, Scout Boudreau covered the course of a 5K trail race at the Bond Brook Recreation area for the first time.
Boudreau, now 14 and a rising freshman at Richmond High School, was not counted as a finisher in 2011 because she was in a stroller being pushed by her father, Wade Boudreau.
This week, Scout Boudreau returned to the recreation area with her father to complete the course under her own power. They were running in the first race of a new monthly summer series of 5K trail races just north of the State House in Augusta.
The next race is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24.
