Scott Perry takes photos of assembled members and staffers Tuesday in the Senate chamber of the Maine State House in Augusta.
Scott Perry took his first panoramic group shot of the Senate in the 118th Legislature in 1997. Then when the 119 Legislature convened in 1999 he made the Senate and the House photographs and has been doing both every two years since then. After getting his tripod set up on the Senate President's desk he taped it down with painter's tape to make sure it stays in place. When all the members and staff were set and ready, Perry started taking photos and turning the camera from left to right till he made 10 overlapping photos covering the whole room. He repeated the process two more times as a backup. He'll then stitch the photos together using Adobe Photoshop and make available for sale.
The former Associated Press photo stringer now concentrates on making and selling panoramic prints from Maine and Puerto Rico on his website scottperryphoto.com and in person at Common Ground Fair and other events.
