SOLON — The Maine Warden Service was continuing to investigate a Sunday UTV crash in Solon that injured three people, a spokesperson for the agency said Wednesday.

Around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, game wardens responded to a reported UTV rollover on an ATV trail just north of McCarty Road, according to a news release issued Wednesday by Mark Latti, communications director for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Investigators found that Derek Gibbs, 32, of Gloucester rolled over his 2024 Polaris UTV, injuring himself and two passengers, Latti said. All three were taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

Gibbs suffered a leg injury and was taken from the Skowhegan hospital on Sunday for further treatment at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland, the news release stated.

The two passengers, whose identifying information was not released, were released from the hospital Sunday, according to the Warden Service.

The Warden Service was assisted by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, the Solon Fire Department, and ambulance crews from Redington-Fairview.
