WATERVILLE — Firefighters responded Wednesday evening to the Alfond Youth & Community Center in Waterville after an electrical box shorted out, officials said.

Chief Jason Frost of the Waterville Fire Department said Thursday that workers were moving large curtains that divide the gymnasium when the electrical box shorted out.

The incident at 126 North St. was reported at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Frost.

“It was a very small issue,” he said. “There was no damage within the building. The only real damage was to the electrical box.”

The Alfond Youth & Community Center houses the Waterville Area Boys & Girls Club and the YMCA.
