Shelly Harris Gerstein
READFIELD – Shelly Harris Gerstein, 80, of Readfield, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2025, with his wife by his side.
A man of diverse talents, Shelly was a writer, editor, magazine publisher, software and web developer, and business consultant known for his sharp intellect and engaging humor. In his later years, he passionately pursued a project aimed at illuminating fundamental insights from modern anthropology to challenge what he termed “false assumptions about human nature,” hoping to demonstrate their relevance in improving today’s world.
Predeceased by his parents, Abe and Dorothy Gerstein, Shelly is survived by his wife, Gale Mettey; sisters, Cheryl Mitouer and Sylvia LaPan; daughter, Lana Rippey; grandchildren, Aaron, Cinnamon Rose, and Thomas Rippey; and numerous other family members.
