Steve Michael Gaboury
WINTHROP – Steve Michael Gaboury, born Jan. 10, 1958, in Gardiner, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted over 13 years. He grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1976.
Steve met his partner, Shelly Bourisk, with whom he shared 49 devoted years. Together, they raised their daughter, Angela Gaboury, who was the light of his life.
Steve dedicated 18 years of his career to Mayfair Lace before joining FedEx, where he worked for 22 years until his diagnosis with stage 4 melanoma in 2012. Despite the odds, Steve faced his illness with remarkable resilience and strength, inspiring all who knew him.
A true outdoorsman, Steve cherished his time in the woods and took great pride in land he owned in Northern Maine. There, he milled and cut the lumber himself to build a cabin – a testament to his resourcefulness and love for nature. Hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors were among his greatest joys, as was riding his beloved Harley. Steve’s adventurous spirit took him and Shelly on many road trips, including several memorable journeys across the country to the West Coast and back.
Steve was predeceased by his father, Linwood Gaboury, mother, Barbara Lanphier and stepfather, Robert Lanphier; and sister Sue Gaboury.
Steve is survived by his partner, Shelly Bourisk; his daughter, Angela Gaboury; his brother, Gary Gaboury, half-brothers Joe Glidden and Rusty Glidden and wife Amy; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his unwavering determination, his deep love for family and the outdoors, and the many lives he touched along the way.
No services will be held. However, a family party will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be sent to 39 McVicker Lane, Winthrop, Maine 04364.
Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where memories, condolences and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the funeral home website at http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
