RANGELEY —Local eatery Sarge’s Sports Pub & Grub will be hosting visits from America’s Best Restaurants later this month.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on June 20. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with husband-and-wife owners Craig and Crystal Sargent and their son Jamie about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
Sarge’s Sports Pub & Grub has been family-owned-and-operated for 25 years, and is known as a staple of the community. Prior to the Sargent family purchasing the space, it was a laundromat, bowling alley, and then Mike’s Pub and Grub. Craig Sargent purchased the business in 1999; Crystal, along with his son Jamie, run and manage the business.
The restaurant is a family-friendly sports bar with multiple big screen televisions and an open air upper deck, serving pub fare with daily homemade specials.
They are heavily involved in the community, supporting local schools in sports, arts and music programs, and hosting fundraisers. Their Sargent Family Community Fund helps community members in need and culminates in a program called Just One Day, which they have organized for the last ten years; the program renovates the property of a local person or persons in need, with all materials and labor donated from area businesses and volunteers.
Sarge’s offers a menu of appetizers, sandwiches, soups and salads, burgers, pizza, and dinners such as fish and chips or salmon.
Popular menu items that may be featured on the episode include the Sarge Burger, topped with American cheese, Applewood bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and housemade special sauce; the Prime Rib Steak Bomb sandwich, their take on a Philly, and Sarge’s Pizza, made with fresh dough and toppings and with cup and char pepperoni as the most popular topping.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on June 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website.
