A recent letter (“Susan Collins’ constituents deserve some face time,” June 5) suggested Sen. Susan Collins is not engaging with Mainers. That is simply not true.

Sen. Collins is one of the most accessible members of the U.S. Senate. During every congressional recess, she travels throughout Maine to meet directly with constituents. Just this spring, she visited the Clinton Fire Station to review plans for a new facility, toured the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Outdoor Education Center in Augusta and helped dedicate the new fire station in Rumford. She also met with students and faculty at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor to see the impact of federal investments in health care training.

These are not photo ops; they are meaningful conversations where Mainers raise real concerns, and Sen. Collins listens and responds. In addition to these visits, Sen. Collins maintains six offices across Maine that are open every weekday to help constituents with federal issues and to ensure voices from every part of the state are heard.

Constituent service has always been central to Sen. Collins’ work. While she cannot attend every event she is invited to, her commitment to listening to and helping the people of Maine has never wavered. She remains accessible, engaged and dedicated to representing our state with integrity and respect.
