A Readfield man remains in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a car turning into his lane Wednesday on Route 133 in Winthrop.

Keith Anderson, 28, was driving southeast on Route 133 in Winthrop when a green 2021 Jeep Cherokee attempted to turn left from the opposite direction onto Pamela Drive, a residential street, Winthrop police Chief Paul Ferland said in a news release. Anderson’s gold 2004 Honda CBR600 motorcycle struck the passenger-side front door of the Jeep, injuring Anderson.

Anderson was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by ambulance and later to Maine Medical Center in Portland by LifeFlight of Maine, Ferland said in the release.

Winthrop first responders arrived at the scene shortly after 9:15 a.m., and Route 133 between Winthrop and Wayne was closed until about 11:30 a.m.

Maine State Police specialists continue to reconstruct the accident, Ferland said.
