Donald Warren Butman
LAKEWOOD, Colo. – We are sad to announce that Donald Warren Butman, 69, of Lakewood, Colo., passed away on June 18, 2025, after an extended illness.
Don was born on Sept. 14, 1955, in Readfield, to Warren “Dick” Butman and Avis Dunn Butman. Don attended Kents Hill High School, where he met his future wife, Susan Calitri, and made great friends, many of whom he stayed close to throughout his life. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Industrial Technology in Boston and later graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Business and a minor in Mathematics.
Don and Susie married in 1978 and began their family in Illinois, later moving to Washington State and Louisiana, and eventually settling in Colorado.
Some of Don’s favorite memories growing up were helping his Dad with haying in the summer, skiing, and playing his musical instruments. Later, he loved being a father and raising his two sons, and was a very proud grandfather to Maddie and Logan.
Don was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Linda Kinney, and brother, William Butman.
Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan Calitri Butman; son, Evan (Cindy) and granddaughter, Madeline; son, Kyle (Amanda) and grandson, Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Crystal Bond, and brother, Thomas Butman, of Maine.
A celebration of life will be held on Oct. 4 (rain date Oct. 5) at the home of his sister, Crystal, in West Gardiner. Family and friends are welcome to attend to celebrate his memory. Check Don’s Facebook page for details as the date draws closer.
