Gorham Fire Chief Ken Fickett said Mosher Road (Route 237) reopened at about 1:30 p.m. with one lane following a four-inch gas line struck by a Maine Department of Transportation excavator. The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday while the state crew was replacing a culvert.
Fickett said Gorham Rescue transported one MDOT worker with eye issues to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Two others were evaluated and treated at the scene.
The incident happened in the area of 209 Mosher Road, said Fickett. It shut down the two-lane road and electrical power in the area. Repairs to the gas line were ongoing Tuesday afternoon.
Windham and Scarborough fire departments assisted, sending ambulances to the scene and Scarborough covered Gorham’s Central Fire Station and Westbrook covered with an ambulance.
