Contributing to one’s community is a good feeling, and I can attest to that as a Franco Center board member. Located at 46 Cedar St. in Lewiston, the center is a thriving performing arts and entertainment venue. Board members and staff enthusiastically believe in Lewiston and advocate the center as a destination point for residents and visitors alike. Examples of upcoming events are Hooray for Hollywood and the Sights and Sounds holiday spectacular.
I joined the board last fall and enjoy engaging with others who are actively committed to its recently adopted multifaceted five-year strategic plan. Partnerships, collaboration and community building are vital moving forward, and our vision for the center’s future is vast.
The Franco Center presents top-notch offerings in popular, Broadway, folk and symphonic music; solo instrumentalists, chorales and choirs; and other contemporary music, dance and theater. The center is also utilized for weddings, receptions, family gatherings, banquets, corporate meetings, seminars and trainings. In addition, the center celebrates Lewiston’s Franco-American heritage in which the building itself plays a key role.
There’s never a dull moment at our board meetings, as creativity and dreaming big are at the forefront. For those who might consider serving with us on the Franco Center board, please reach out to Executive Director Theresa Shanahan at (207) 424-0401 or at [email protected]. We welcome the ideas and perspectives of others, and we’d love to hear from them!
