I’ve been a volunteer poll worker in Sagadahoc County for a few years now. I’ve seen how much work goes into it. When I work at the voter table, many people want to show their ID and are very upset when it isn’t required. Maine should join the 36 other states that already require voter ID.
Mainers truly wanted to put voter ID on the ballot. To get it to the ballot, 800 volunteers had to work hard to get it there. I’m proud to have supported the grassroots effort. We had to do this because the Legislature failed to act. Mainers did this themselves.
I truly support voter ID because I want stronger elections, increased transparency and restored confidence in the process. The new law provides for an ID to be issued to every eligible voter who does not have one.
So, please get out and vote “Yes” on Nov. 4, 2025.
