Susan Collins says she’s “extremely alarmed” by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s firing of his month-old CDC Director Monarez. Similarly, when he fired the vaccine advisory board she said that was a bad mistake. Yet, knowing his anti-vaccine history, Sen. Collins voted to confirm RFK Jr. She also helped to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, worsening its reputation.

Sen. Collins likely thought she could ask honest questions and get credible answers when candidates were under oath. But that was when we considered hiring people working to help government and citizens. We now promote conspiracy theorists and loudmouths who want to break democracy so they can rule by oligarchy.

I hope Sen. Collins changes her worldview while we still have a republic worth saving.
