Politics aside, I’m taking a more worldly view of President Donald Trump. Noticing that he is pictured rarely, if ever, smiling, I’m convinced that he has never experienced true joy. That, despite holding a very powerful position, he is a sad and lonely man — possibly, like many of us, frightened at times.
His friends seem to be loyalists who don’t really like or respect him. More likely, they fear him or some despise him. I suspect he has never known unconditional love or been able to respond in kind. Sad. He’s to be pitied.
He claims that the Bible is one of his favorite books; his actions say otherwise. Does Trump truly understand what “I come to serve, not to be served” means? Has he ever exhibited true empathy for his fellow man or for someone less fortunate than himself? Doubtful.
He has amassed great wealth but, as the Beatles said, “money can’t buy me love.”
