LEWISTON — The Franco-American Collection at the University of Southern Maine is set to host a viewing of the documentary “Une histoire sur le goût de la langue,” with discussion at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 51 Westminster St.
The Quebecois Fall Film Series is hosted by Libraries & Learning at Lewiston-Auburn Campus.
There is no fee for the programs, which are made possible by the Québec Delegation in Boston and by TV5MONDE. Hélène Choquette, the writer and director of the film, granted licensing rights.
An ode to the French language with its many accents in Quebec (Canada), the documentary traces its trajectory from the Conquest of 1759 to the present day. In addition to historians, linguists and other language enthusiasts, personalities recount pivotal events as they experienced them. This movie will be shown in French with English subtitles, according to a news release from Anna Faherty, Archivist, Franco-American Collection, University of Southern Maine, Lewiston-Auburn Campus.
