WATERVILLE — A Waterville man was listed as stable Monday at a Bangor hospital after suffering serious injuries when he was struck by a tractor trailer Friday on Elm Street.

Timothy Ferris, 61, was trying to cross Elm Street outside of a crosswalk just before 12:43 p.m. when it appeared the tractor trailer, traveling north and being driven by Wade Campbell, 35, of Westbrook, struck Ferris, according to Waterville police Maj. Jason Longley.

Ferris was taken by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after the incident, Longley said Monday in a news release.

No one at the Bangor hospital was available early Monday afternoon to comment on Ferris’ condition, but Longley said he was listed as stable Monday. Meanwhile, a hospital operator said she would have a nursing supervisor return a reporter’s call.

Longley said that because the crash involved a commercial motor vehicle, members of the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit are also involved in the investigation to help with crash reconstruction and forensic mapping.

He said Campbell was not injured in the crash. Campbell was not charged and there are no charges pending, Longley said..

He said police had no further information to share Monday on the incident.
