Traffic cameras will soon be installed on Interstate 295 and Interstate 95, the Maine Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

The project, which will cost nearly $970,000, is intended to “improve Interstate Highway safety conditions,” the department said in a statement.

On I-295, work will be conducted near Exit 10 in Falmouth, Exit 15 in Yarmouth and Exit 20 in Freeport.

On I-95, work will be at Exits 109 and 112 in Augusta, Exit 120 in Sidney, Exits 127 and 130 in Waterville, and Exit 133 in Fairfield.

Electric Light Inc. of Cape Neddick will begin the work next week and is scheduled to complete it by Oct. 30.

“Motorists traveling along the interstate should expect closure of shoulders in the project areas,” the department said.
