Peggy Lou Roy
RANDOLPH – Peggy Lou Roy, 89, of Randolph, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25, 2025, at the home of her son, Ronald Grotton in West Gardiner.
Peggy was born in Gardiner, on Oct. 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Albert and Gladys (Crockett) Grotton. She was born the eleventh of 13 children. She attended Gardiner area schools.
On July 19, 1963, Peggy married Bertrand Roy in Gardiner. Bertrand passed away on March 22, 2025, after 61 years of marriage.
Peggy was a homemaker most of her life, but she felt blessed to have provided day care for many years to Joshua and Tyler Corum who thought of her as family. They often visited her whenever they were in Maine. Peggy was an avid bingo and card player for many years and enjoyed candle pin bowling and playing on leagues. She loved her entire family and was extremely close to her sisters, Gladys Roberts, Marion Miller and Lois Curtis, right up until her passing. She attended family gatherings as long as she could, the most recent less than a month ago.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Bertrand Roy; sisters Martha Carrier, Elizabeth Rodrigue, brothers Chester, Lawrence, Arthur, Frederick, Clarence, Ernest and Charles Grotton.
She is survived by three sons, Richard Grotton of Monmouth, Ronald Grotton of West Gardiner and Reginald Roy of Randolph; sisters Glayds Roberts of Farmingdale, Marion Miller of New Harbor and Lois Curtis of Pittston; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours celebrating Peggy’s life will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Libby Hill Cemetery, Gardiner. Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
