In the regular football season, Filieo coaches for South Portland High School, but was chosen to lead the West team for the coveted Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl game.

Haley has been with the Sun Journal sports department since November 2023. She graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles in May 2022 with a degree in international relations. Haley also played lacrosse for the Tigers, so naturally, her love of sports led her to pursue a permanent sports journalism role. Before her move to Maine, she previously worked as a general assignment reporter in Lancaster, S.C., covering education, city council, crime and business. Haley is a native southerner, born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia, so don’t be surprised when she slips the occasional “y’all” into her interview questions.
