Longtime coach Mike Coutts starting new position in Colorado

Coutts, who has coached at UMaine and high schools in southern Maine, will be the softball coach at the Colorado School of Mines.

The team, which starts practice on Wednesday, spent more time in the weight room this summer and added several transfers.

The Black Bears look to extend their winning streak to three games Saturday against the 16th-ranked Wildcats.
